If you’re wise about exercise selection, your core training regime can significantly elevate your running performance. As a kinesiologist, I believe that a great core routine is both efficient and specific to the sport at hand. In the lens of running, it’s one that addresses the common imbalances we have at the hips and core without becoming overbearing and eating into the time that we can be training. This is no easy task, but it can be done.

To help you build a more diverse, relevant repertoire of core exercises for running, I want to introduce 3 movements that often go under my athlete’s radars. All of these have one thing in common: they include multiple moving parts to help challenge your core endurance, stability, and overall coordination all at once. This is a brilliant way to get the heart rate up quickly and ensure your most vulnerable tissues are ready to face the common stressors of running.
