This One Exercise Can Solve Your Quadricep Tightness and Pain
Set your legs free in mere minutes!
The quads are one of the most indispensable muscle groups as they contribute greatly to total lower body strength and overall knee function. You’d be hard-pressed to find an activity of daily life where you weren’t recruiting these muscles to some degree. With great responsibility, however, comes the risk of pain and restriction for those who neglect to take care of these tissues.
As a kinesiologist and trainer, one of the most common complaints I hear is stiffness around the front of the legs. Athletes and weekend warriors alike, we all seem to struggle with tightness at the quadriceps. While there are many potential reasons for this, one of the leading factors is our obsession with static stretching and tendency to underemphasize strength training.
If you want quads that feel strong and supple, you must combine strength and flexibility training. This is done through exercises that develop the localized tissues in a stretched position. Not only can this help to improve flexibility and mobility, but it’s also a surefire way to maximize your relationship with the neurological and musculoskeletal system to optimize function and injury prevention.
