The Foam Roller’s Real Purpose Is Not What You Think
Have we been using it wrong for years?
If you’re solely using your foam roller in an attempt to break up scar tissue in muscles, you’re doing it wrong. As a kinesiologist and trainer, this is the one myth I see virtually every client still falling for. No matter how much pressure or pain you put yourself through, this tool won’t magically change the anatomical makeup of your muscles or prevent injuries.
While this may come as a shock to you, don’t throw your foam roller away quite yet. Why? There are a few exercises that just so happened to work brilliantly with it that can help you build better mobility and stability. These movements can effectively mimic many of the movements done in the gym to make exercising that much more straightforward and accessible!
