The 3 Exercises You Need To Get Rid of Your Clicking Shoulders
The secret is in challenging your stability with this one trick!
If you have weak, clicky shoulders, it’s likely a sign that your joint stability is not where it needs to be. While there are many ways this can be addressed, one of my favorite methods is to encourage clients to utilize closed-chain exercises to build back motor control and stability.
What are closed-chain exercises you ask?
In the context of training the shoulders, these are movements in which your hands are planted on the floor and you’re providing a stimulus to the joint by shifting your body in various patterns. Doing this will not only enhance proximal activation of the entire ‘pillar’ (hips and core) but also encourage a strong co-contraction of the shoulder girdle and rotator cuff musculature. This strategy will also provide key feedback to make sure you are aware of how your scapulae are moving to correct any bad habits.
