Sciatica is an ever-growing problem plaguing millions of adults with chronic pain and discomfort. According to the Cleveland Clinic, nearly 40% of Americans will experience it at least once. It’s one of the most common, yet misunderstood types of pain. It begs the question, why haven’t we gotten to the bottom of this phenomenon? Why are so many patients still struggling?

Through my lens as a kinesiologist, I believe the biggest issue lies in our reactive mindset and cravings for quick fixes. This results in a widespread failure to locate the root cause of pain, and can often leave people stressing the wrong areas and ending up with even more discomfort.

Today I want to go over a few strategies that can help you find sustainable pain relief from this dreaded issue. While you may be inclined to stretch out your glutes and legs to ease your agony, I challenge you to take things a step further and mobilize the tissues that will stop the pain signals altogether.

Sciatic pain can be scary, but you don’t have to let it win. Start doing these movements today and begin regaining control of your health.
