Back pain isn’t always easy to navigate, but certain principles are consistent for virtually everyone. One of the easiest and most overlooked rehab strategies is simply moving the hips more. The hips and lower back are so incredibly interconnected that a lack of mobility at one site will inevitably affect the other.

After working with hundreds of back pain patients as a kinesiologist, I’ve realized that poor hip mobility is a consistent trait for virtually all patients with the worst symptoms. Once we establish basic movement patterns for opening up this stiff joint, the lower back also tends to release. While it’s not always this easy, you’d be shocked at how frequently I see this chain reaction in my practice.

The best part about this training strategy is that these movements don’t require much effort on your part. Regardless of your health status or fitness abilities, exercises like the ones below will be accessible to virtually all populations. Are you ready to simplify your rehab plan and move your body as it was designed to move?

Let’s dive in.
