Ladder drills are invaluable for athletes of all kinds. Whether you’re a 100m sprinter or a soccer player, building up your foot speed will both improve your performance and prevent injuries. Where we often fall short, however, is in assuming that this simple piece of equipment is reserved for young, elite athletes. As a kinesiologist and trainer, I’d argue that ladder drills are actually more relevant for the average older adult! Let me explain why.

The biggest difference I see between people who age well and those who don’t is in their mindset. You can either choose to ‘train your age’, or you can explore workouts and techniques that force you outside of your comfort zone and push your health and wellness forward.

As a bonus, this is the type of work that will slow bone density loss and delay the decrease of fast twitch…
