If you’ve ever been in severe back pain, you’ll know how intimidating or impossible it may feel to move. Due to the protective nature of the nervous system, every fiber in your body wants nothing to do with deviations from the norm. Anything that may cause more pain or imbalance is a big no and should be avoided at all costs.

I’ve worked with hundreds of back pain patients as a kinesiologist and I can confidently say that the biggest hurdle to rehabilitation is getting over the fear of it all. Catastrophization is a real thing that affects countless people in pain. While legitimate damage to tissues may be present, our biases, fears, and doubts often blow things out of proportion. Whether it’s a scary-looking image or a doomful prognosis, we’ve been trained to fear pain and take invasive approaches (medication, surgery, etc…) to get rid of it at all costs.

I like to take a different approach.
