5 Crazy Exercises That Your Knees Will Love
If you want to wave goodbye to knee pain for good, follow this training philosophy!
My philosophy as a kinesiologist is that physical rehab shouldn’t be a chore, but rather an adventure. There are many road bumps along the way, and it’s the ones that replace judgment with curiosity that come out most fulfilled and healed. This process often includes experimenting with exercises that may look a little ridiculous to express fitness or test the waters to see what you’re capable of.
Where many of us fall short in the great journey of physical rehab is being too afraid to try new things or go off the beaten path. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my work, it’s that those who maintain a level of fun, freshness, and autonomy over their training get the best results.
To give you an idea of just how diverse and creative a rehab plan can look, I want to dive into a common knee program I give to my clients. Whether you’re struggling with this area or not, I encourage you to try these exercises to see where you’re at. You may just learn a few things about yourself along the way…
Out-of-the-Box Knee Exercises You Need To Try
As with any new mode of physical activity, please check in with your health professional if you have any doubts about your physical readiness. This is especially important for those who’ve had a history of pain and/or surgery in this specific area. Nine times out of ten, however, you’ll be doing the right thing if you use physical therapy wisely and patiently.
For the best results, try these exercises 3–5 times per week! As always, listen to your body and never push through severe pain. The goal here is to get the knee joint and its surrounding tissues working for you and not against you. To achieve this, you must be patient and pace yourself well. Trust the process and you’ll be feeling like yourself sooner than you know it. Pain-free days are ahead!
